Summer in Arizona is brutal and we do not add to the heat by turning on the oven if we can help it. I take a vacation from baking during the summer. Only in emergencies do I bake a loaf of bread; cookies and cakes rarely happen. Dessert still happens, however. Fresh fruit is the star. I might turn on a burner to make a raspberry coulis to pour over ice cream or a store-bought Angel Food cake. Yes, I said store bought. No shame in that in this heat. I also spend the summer dreaming up new recipes to try when the weather breaks. How does the arrival of summer alter your work/play in the kitchen?
